“FANS absolutely revel in the noise. Drums pound away on a snare-heavy beat, the bass never loses its sixteenth note pace, and the rhythm guitar strums without abandon right up to the beginning of a massive chorus. By the time everything winds down, you’ll be yearning for more.”         – The Line of Best Fit

“Their dark, post-punk driven sound is as sparse as they come, all brooding, chugging bass lines and pounding, relentless drums.” – Clash

“FANS have some of the most immediate, ready-made fuzzy guitar anthems since The Vaccines.”  – NME

Today, dark, brooding indie rock trio FANS are unveiling a new track entitled ‘If God Is Real’, along with the news they’ll be releasing their debut EP ‘Born Into’ this summer.

FANS are an alternative rock three piece, based in West Yorkshire, influenced by the likes of My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain, set to release their debut EP ‘Born Into’ this summer.

The new EP, produced and recorded by Eagulls / Hookworms / Pulled Apart By Horses producer Matt Peel is a crushing amalgamation of influences, all fusing together to create something both immediately striking and intriguing, yet equally enjoyable and memorable.

Making a name for themselves last year with their debut ‘All This Time’, the track had wonderful support from the NME, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, DIY and more. It was added to the evening playlist at XFM, piqued the interest of Steve Lamacq and Tom Ravenscroft at BBC 6 Music, and had spot plays at Radio 1, and the band are set to pick up where they left off, with this new EP.

Speaking on the premise behind the new EP ‘Born Into‘, the band have said “the record is basically based around the idea that social mobility is an illusion, that what circumstances you’re ‘Born Into’, 90% of the time is where you’ll end up. A feeling that people who are poor aren’t valued and have no real control or voice. It is literally becoming a crime to be poor which is fucking mental, and if you happen to be in that situation then it seems like human life ceases to have any value.”

The first track to be lifted from the EP – ‘If God Is Real’ is a confident return to form, displaying the same, dark, almost gothic brand of alternative indie rock, that is sure to appeal to fans of various different genres.

On their influences, the trio said “we’re into just loud heavy guitars like Mary Chain & My Bloody Valentine, but also Rick Rubin’s work with Johhny Cash is a big influence as well.”

It’s certainly an eclectic set of influences, all that most certainly can be heard throughout the new record. With touring plans in full swing, along with the release of this new EP, there’s a real sense of excitement around the band – and for good reason.
