Of the track, Joss explains “Molly Town is about a couple I met when I was travelling in France with my ex. The van broke down, and we lived outside of an Irish pub called Molly’s for a month. There was an English guy working there as a chef, Daniel, and he had a beautiful girlfriend called Stella from Bordeaux. They were a gorgeous couple, really lovely and fun. And Daniel told us his story, of how he set off to travel all around Europe but only got as far as Bordeaux cos he met Stella and he never wanted to leave her. We have a little French accordion in there, to set the mood.”

Molly Town will be released on October 2nd and will follow on from the record’s first single ‘The Answer’, which enjoyed heavy rotation on the Radio 2 playlist. The track was played live recently on BBC Breakfast television, where Joss was joined by friend and collaborator on the album, Nitin Sawhney.

On the catchy standout ‘Molly Town’, she comes over as a British Lauryn Hill, grabbing different sounds and giving them genuine soul’. Evening Standard

Like many of the tracks on the new album, ‘Molly Town’ has a distinct reggae flavour and perfectly showcases how effortlessly Joss has taken to writing and performing songs in this genre. Joss credits her album collaborator Damian Marley with giving her the belief to express herself in less familiar territory. “I’ve always loved reggae and Damian gave me the confidence to go through that door. Listening to Damian and his mates, this language is so gorgeous, and it’s got a melody to it and it helped me to put things together that fit that style of music.” Similarly, Dennis Bovell who also helped on the album was a massive inspiration. “He’s like a reggae encyclopaedia. And he can really sing. His pitch and range is massive. He’s funny too, a great person to work with.”
